Covid-19 Updates: Frequently Asked Questions

What safety measures have you put in place?

I understand your worries about Covid-19. To reassure you, I am keeping up to date with guidelines issued by the British Government, NHS, Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive to minimise the risk of contagion/cross contamination in my aromatherapy massage practice and to fulfil my duty of care towards yourself and other clients.

In order to help, I ask that you follow these guidelines: -

  1. The key symptoms of COVID-19 are a new continuous cough, shortness of breath, excessive tiredness and a raised temperature or fever. If you feel unwell with these symptoms, please postpone your appointment. Normally, at least 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations to avoid being charged, but in this case, just give as much notice as you can. Even if you feel certain that you have not contracted coronavirus please adhere to this request until your temperature has returned to normal for at least 24 hours, or until your GP or other medic have advised that you are no longer at risk. Some of my clients are considered to be at high risk of catching infections, so thank you for understanding and adhering to this request.

  2. If you have recently returned from aboard, or from an area considered at high risk in the UK, please read the NHS guidelines and only attend appointments if you are considered safe to do so, in accordance with the current NHS and government advice. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

  3. If you think might you have come into contact with someone who has Covid-19 please postpone your appointment and phone NHS 111, even if you do not feel ill. We recommend that everyone stays up to date with NHS advice: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

  4. When you arrive: Please wait in your car until you're greeted by me at the entrance. Please try to arrive at just the right time. Please arrive alone where possible, but where a chaperone or carer is required, they will also have to to be COVID-19 assessed.

  5. On entering the home clinic, I'll ask you to confirm that your answers to the COVID-19 questions are unchanged from time of booking your appointment. You are then requested you wash your hands in the downstairs washroom, using the antibacterial soap provided and for at least 20 seconds following the WHO guidelines. https://youtu.be/3PmVJQUCm4E

  6. You can wear a face covering/mask if you wish. I shall be wearing a protective visor.

Guidelines for therapists include all the above, plus: -

  1. Extra care of cleansing and disinfecting all hard surfaces which clients come into contact with before and after each client.

  2. Extra care of washing of hands thoroughly before and after each client for at least 20 seconds.

  3. Continue to safely dispose all couch roll and change and launder linen between each client, washing at 60 degrees. Carefully dispose of any bin contents.

  4. If feeling unwell (raised temperature, cough, shortness of breath), cancel clients until fully recovered. Phone NHS 111 if experiencing any of these symptoms and follow their guidance.

  5. Keep familiarised with the following British government guidelines for health professionals regarding COVID-19. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance

  6. Regularly check other official, professional guidance.

  7. The wearing of a clear protective visor, which is cleaned before and after each client.

These guidelines may change. They will always be in line with Government guidance.
