Covid-19 Updates: Frequently Asked Questions

What safety measures have you put in place?

I understand your worries about Covid-19. To reassure you, I am keeping up to date with guidelines issued by the British Government, Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive and the NHS to minimise the risk of contagion/cross contamination in my aromatherapy massage practice and to fulfil my duty of care towards yourself and other clients.

In order to help, I ask that you adhere to these guidelines: -

  1. The key symptoms of COVID-19 are a new continuous cough, shortness of breath, excessive tiredness and a raised temperature or fever. If you feel unwell with these symptoms, please postpone your appointment. Normally, at least 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations to avoid being charged, but in this case, just give as much notice as you can. Even if you feel certain that you have not contracted coronavirus please adhere to this request until your temperature has returned to normal for at least 24 hours and your GP or other medic have advised that you are no longer at risk or you have tested negative. Some of my clients are considered to be at high risk of catching infections, so thank you for understanding and complying to this request.

  2. If you have recently returned from aboard, or from an area considered at high risk in the UK, please read the NHS guidelines and only attend appointments if you are considered safe to do so, in accordance with the current NHS and government advice. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

  3. If you think might you have come into contact with someone who has Covid-19 please postpone your appointment and phone NHS 111, even if you do not feel ill. It is recommended everyone stays up to date with NHS advice: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

  4. When you arrive: Please wait in your car until greeted by me at the entrance. Please try to arrive at just the right time. Please arrive alone where possible, but where a chaperone or carer is required, they will also have to be COVID-19 assessed. Bring with you minimum belongings and include your own drinking water. Before entering, I'll ask you to re-confirm that you have not developed any COVID-19 symptoms.

  5. On entering the home clinic, you are requested to use the hand sanitiser provided. Downstairs toilet facilities are available in urgent situations only, in which case please wash your hands using the antibacterial soap provided and for at least 20 seconds following the WHO guidelines. Then please dry your hands with the paper towels provided.

  6. PPE - As from Tuesday 30th November 2021, the wearing of masks in shops and on public transport became mandatory. Therefore, clients attending massage treatments are kindly asked to wear a face covering (unless exempt) for the duration of the appointment.

  7. On entering the treatment room, whilst I wash my hands please leave your clothes on the armchair provided and make yourself comfortable on the couch.

  8. Payments are taken at time of online bookings. Otherwise, in advance of treatment via bank transfer or by card or cash on the day.

  9. After your treatment, please santitise your hands before you leave.

  10. In general of which everyone is aware: Other than the treatment, please ensure you maintain social distancing of at least 1 metre. If you need to blow your nose, sneeze or cough, do so into a tissue and dispose in bin provided.

  11. Important: Please advise me if you become unwell after your treatment.

Guidelines for the therapist include all the above, plus: -

  1. Full risk assessment carried out to identify all mitigating measures including reducing risk of cross-contamination of COVID-19 as much as is feasibly possible.

  2. Full client consultation/medical history record to include COVID-19 questions emailed to every client who books in and assessed on return in advance of appointment.

  3. Extra care of cleansing and disinfecting all surfaces which clients come into contact with before and after each client.

  4. Extra care of washing of hands thoroughly before and after each client for at least 20 seconds.

  5. Continue to safely dispose all couch roll and change and launder linen between each client, washing at 60 degrees. Carefully dispose of any bin contents.

  6. If feeling unwell (raised temperature, cough, shortness of breath), cancel clients until fully recovered. Undertake a PCR test. Isolate until a negative result.

  7. Keep familiarised with the following British government guidelines for health professionals regarding COVID-19. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance

  8. Regularly check other official, professional guidance.

  9. The wearing of a face covering for the duration of client appointments.

  10. Ventilation: keeping doors and windows open whenever possible.

  11. For Track and Trace, keep a record of all clients and other visitors who have been on the premises for at least 21 days (to include friends, family or others who visit the home.)

  12. Ensuring treatments are in line with government guidelines:- There is a reduced treatment menu to ensure all treatments are within the time allowed and the highest risk zone (face) “for entire or majority of the time of the service” avoided.

These guidelines may change. They will always be in line with Government guidance.
